Everything Lucrive Does: A Complete Guide to the Platform

Most Nigerian MSMEs are running their finances across five different apps, two spreadsheets, and a WhatsApp thread. Lucrive brings it into one place — built for Nigerian tax law and business practice.

Who Is Lucrive For?

Lucrive was built for Nigerian business owners who are serious about their money but do not have the time or budget for a full-time accountant. Here are the four people we built it for:

The freelancer who just landed their first big corporate client

You have been sending invoices on WhatsApp or in a rough Word document. Now you have a corporate client who needs a proper PDF invoice with your Tax Identification Number (TIN), line items, and VAT (Value Added Tax) treatment. You need to look like a real business — fast. Lucrive gets you there in under five minutes.

The food business owner who is always busy but never sure if they made money

You are selling out every weekend. Revenue is coming in. But at the end of the month, you are not sure what the actual profit was after food costs, packaging, delivery, and the staff you paid in cash. Lucrive's pricing and budget calculator tells you what your numbers actually mean.

The agency founder who quotes on gut feel and loses on execution

You win the project at a price that felt right, then halfway through you realize you underquoted. This happens because the quote did not account for your real overhead — rent, software, salaries, taxes. Lucrive's pricing calculator builds all of that in before you send the quote.

The founder going to a bank for a loan and needs to show actual financial records

Banks want to see organized records: invoices issued, revenue history, tax compliance. If your records are in WhatsApp, you are not getting that loan. Lucrive gives you exportable, professional records that a bank can read.

The Six Modules

1. Invoice Management

Best for: Freelancers, consultants, agencies, contractors, and any business that invoices clients — especially anyone sending PDFs to corporate clients who need a TIN and proper tax treatment on the document.

Lucrive's invoice module handles the full lifecycle of a client invoice: creation, sending, tracking, and record-keeping.

Create — Build a professional invoice with your business name, TIN, client details, line items, applicable VAT, and payment terms. It takes under a minute once your details are saved.

Send — Download as a PDF and share via email or WhatsApp. The format is clean and consistent every time — no reformatting required.

Track — Mark invoices as paid or pending. Know at a glance what is outstanding and what has been collected.

Key details the module handles automatically:

  • Sequential invoice numbering (INV-001, INV-002)
  • VAT (Value Added Tax) at the current Nigerian rate
  • WHT (Withholding Tax) deduction display, so clients can see the net amount
  • Your bank details in a standard location
Free tier: 10 invoices per billing cycle. Professional and Enterprise plans are unlimited.

2. Receipt Management

Best for: Any business that has expenses — which is every business. Especially useful for anyone who needs to reconcile expenses at month-end or year-end without sorting through a pile of paper receipts.

Every receipt you record becomes a searchable, categorised entry. Stop losing receipts. Stop spending three hours before your accountant visit reconstructing what you spent.

Record — Enter the receipt details: date, amount, category, and payment method. Takes under 30 seconds.

Categorise — Tag it by expense type: fuel, meals, equipment, software, rent, and others.

Retrieve — Search by date, amount, or category when you need to reconcile or file.

This module is particularly useful for businesses with recurring expenses across multiple categories — logistics companies, field service businesses, and any business with staff who spend on company business.

3. Pricing and Budget Calculator

Best for: Any business owner who has ever quoted a price and later wondered if they actually made money on the job. Especially useful for service businesses, food businesses, and anyone whose costs vary by project.
Most Nigerian businesses are not failing because of low sales volume. They are failing because their price does not cover their actual costs.

The pricing calculator is built on a simple principle: your price must cover your costs, your overhead, your taxes, and leave a margin — in that order.

Here is what it builds into the calculation:

Direct costs — the costs specific to this product or job: materials, direct labour, delivery.

Overhead allocation — your share of fixed costs: rent, internet, software subscriptions, capital expenditure (CapEx — one-time asset purchases like equipment, spread across their useful life).

Tax provision — an estimate of the CIT (Companies Income Tax) or PIT (Personal Income Tax) that will be due on the profit from this job, using Nigerian tax rates.

Target margin — the profit percentage you want to keep after everything.

The output is a recommended minimum price. You can adjust the margin slider to see how price changes affect your actual take-home.

Example: A caterer in Abuja costing a corporate event. She enters her ingredient cost (₦85,000), kitchen rental (₦12,000), packaging and delivery (₦8,000), and her overhead allocation per event (₦15,000). She sets a 25% margin target. The calculator tells her her minimum price is ₦160,000 — not the ₦130,000 she was about to quote.

4. Nigerian Tax Calculator

Best for: Business owners preparing for tax season, accountants managing multiple Nigerian clients, and anyone who wants to check their likely tax liability before filing.

The tax calculator handles the four main Nigerian business taxes:

VAT (Value Added Tax) — enter your taxable revenue and it calculates the VAT you owe to remit to the NRS (Nigeria Revenue Service — formerly NRS, the Federal Inland Revenue Service, before the 2025 reform renamed the agency).

WHT (Withholding Tax) — enter the payment type and amount, and it shows the applicable rate (5% or 10% depending on service type) and the amount to deduct and remit.

PAYE (Pay As You Earn) — enter your employees' salaries and it calculates the monthly PAYE deduction for each employee using the Personal Income Tax (PIT) bands set by the Joint Tax Board.

CIT (Companies Income Tax) — enter your company's annual profit and it calculates CIT at the applicable rate, including the small company exemption if your turnover qualifies.

Note on the NRS name change: The 2025 tax reform legislation renamed NRS (Federal Inland Revenue Service) to NRS (Nigeria Revenue Service) and updated several rates and thresholds. The calculator uses the current 2026 figures.

5. Lex — AI Tax Assistant

Best for: Any Nigerian business owner with a tax question they cannot quickly find the answer to — without paying ₦15,000 for a one-hour consultation.
"Is my Airbnb income subject to VAT in Nigeria?" — the kind of question that would cost ₦15,000 at a tax consultant. Lex answers it in 4 seconds.

Lex is Lucrive's AI tax assistant, trained on Nigerian tax legislation — including the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 and the NRS Establishment Act 2025. Ask it a question in plain English. It gives you a plain-English answer drawn from the actual law.

What Lex is good at:

  • Explaining whether a rule applies to your situation
  • Telling you the correct rate for a tax type
  • Explaining what a tax form is and when it is due
  • Clarifying how two rules interact (for example, how WHT credits reduce your CIT liability)

What Lex does not do:

  • Give advice with professional liability behind it
  • File your returns
  • Represent you in a dispute

Lex is the fastest way to get informed before you take action. Use it freely. For decisions with significant financial or legal consequences, confirm with a qualified tax professional.

6. Subscriptions and Billing

Lucrive runs on Paystack — Nigeria's leading payment platform — so you pay in Naira with no exchange rate exposure.

How the modules work together

The modules are designed to work as a connected system, not six separate tools.

A typical month for a consulting firm:

① An invoice is created in Invoice Management and sent to the client. The VAT and WHT amounts are automatically calculated and displayed.

② The client pays. The invoice is marked as paid. The receipt of the bank transfer is uploaded to Receipt Management.

③ During the month, the owner uploads fuel receipts, software subscription receipts, and other business expenses.

④ At month-end, the owner runs the tax calculator to estimate VAT due for remittance and to check CIT provision for the quarter.

⑤ A pricing question comes up for a new project. The pricing calculator is used to build the quote from costs up — not from gut feel.

⑥ A client asks about VAT invoice format and the owner is not sure of the correct structure. Lex is asked. The answer takes 10 seconds.

None of this requires an accountant for the day-to-day work. The accountant's time — when you use one — is spent on decisions and filings, not on reconstructing records.
